From 2018 to 2024, the Creative Learning Centre supported people to use their NDIS funding for specialised leisure ie. learning dance skills from a professional dance teacher. This talk was given in 2018. Since 2024, NDIS funds can no longer be used directly for learning from an artist or performing artist. Instead, participants currently need to pay for the leisure pursuit from their own funds although a support worker may help them travel to the session. Organisations which employ support workers can still provide leisure activities - but the quality of these is less when it is not an actual artist teaching the class and when the fees paid are low and so there is not time to prepare the classes properly.
